Dear friends of Stella School!

An important event has just taken place in Vienna: The Stella-Schulträgerverein has taken over the new school building on the Donauplatte campus! On a gloriously sunny day at the end of May, the time had finally come. It is hard to believe that this complex structure could be completed within the specified time, for which we would like to express our compliments and heartfelt thanks to our partner DC Waterline! Over the past few years – including the difficult coronavirus period – we have worked together to make this possible. The new building blends wonderfully into the “landscape” of the Donauplatte, is flooded with light, modern, functional and at the same time warmly inviting and inspiring. At the end of June, we will start moving from the current temporary location, first the elementary school und the secondary school, then the kindergarten.
I would also like to thank the many big and small donors and all the families who make the Stella project possible! So many people are involved here – with money, time, help and creative ideas on how we can raise the funding needed for such an educational project. In any case, everyone is driven by the same thought: we want to invest in the future of young minds – in our own children’s future and that of many other families.
We are also very pleased that the Stella plant is slowly growing in other federal states – in Lower Austria (Seebenstein), Salzburg, Graz… there are once again some nice contributions from the individual locations.
I hope you enjoy reading it and wish you a long breath until the end of school!

Sincerely yours

Heidi Burkhart & the team of Stella International School

First Holy Communion
Clara and Agnes Maria prepared for their first Holy Communion under the motto “Be sure, I am with you always!”. It was a worthy celebration; afterwards, there was a party in the school garden!

Maria Schutz pilgrimage
In beautiful weather, we went on a pilgrimage with the children of the 1st MSTK from Schottwien to Maria Schutz. Along the way, flowers were picked for Our Lady and we brought them together with our intentions to Our Lady. After Holy Mass, we fortified ourselves with a doughnut and then enjoyed an interesting tour of the church by Fr. Finally, we also visited the Lourdes Grotto. It was a wonderful community experience.

Feast of gratitude
Much of the work in and around the house is done voluntarily. We are very grateful for this and it was a great pleasure to celebrate the many helpers, prayers, and donors. Around 70 people gathered on the campus on Saturday in beautiful weather. After the Holy Mass with Dr. Robert Weber, there was time to chat over a generous brunch in the pavilion, prepared by the full-time staff on campus. God loves a cheerful giver!

Stella Seebenstein Kindergarten

Mother’s Day coffee
There were some great experiences here at the Stella Seebenstein kindergarten in May! We gave the moms personally designed invitations for Mother’s Day coffee. And before the special day arrived, we diligently practiced the Mother’s Day song, baked cakes, and made table decorations.
Our little musical performance took place in our exercise room and afterward, we had coffee and cake in the pavilion outside. It was a successful party and we had great fun!

Butterfly project
We also want to tell you more about our butterfly project:
The small caterpillars have become fat caterpillars that have pupated!
A butterfly even hatched during a kindergarten morning and we were there to see it live.
Our Annika has a special love for animals and our first butterfly flew to freedom on her hand. Her mom was able to capture this moment with a photo – it’s a sensational photo – can you see the butterfly? 😉
Together with our moms, we let the remaining butterflies fly over Mother’s Day coffee!

May devotion
Mia held a May Prayer with us in our chapel. Unfortunately, we couldn’t hike because it had rained beforehand.
We prayed for our families and peace. Our Lady helps us carry our prayers to Jesus; out of this joy, we have given her flowers!

Cross-class work – German
On the subject of opposites 2. and 3rd grade work together. In this lesson, the pupils could play different adjectives to each other and have their partner guess them. The corresponding pair of opposites then had to be found. At the end, each group designed a pair of opposites posters. It was great to work together and learn with and from each other.

We want to make an effort to separate waste correctly – 3rd grade
This time, one chapter of the German book dealt with environmental protection. During the process, the pupils realized that waste separation is significant for environmental protection. In the following lesson, a waste separation project was launched, in which the first step was for the pupils to label the bins correctly. This created motivation to dispose of waste correctly. Every day, whether the waste bins have been “fed” with the right contents is now an issue.

Mother’s Day gifts in handicraft lessons
Full of joy and motivation, the pupils create their Mother’s Day gifts in workshops.
It’s great that our moms exist!

4th grade cycling test
Once again this year, the children practiced diligently for their bike test – in theory with Ms. Ungar and practice with a police officer. After much excitement and anticipation, all the pupils finally passed the bike test.

Seebenstein – Run – 2nd place
Matthew from School Level 2 came 2nd in the annual Seebenstein Run for our school. We are proud of you!

Kaiserschmarrn like something out of a German book
During their German lesson, class 2 discovered a Kaiserschmarrn recipe in their book. After the pupils had worked diligently on this, it became practical – and the lessons moved to the kitchen. The teachers worked diligently and patiently to conjure Kaiserschmarrn for the whole school. It was very tasty – thank you!

Drawing lessons
Here you can see what great work we produce with Ms. Tomann in drawing.

Presentations in subject lessons
At the beginning of the year, each student was allowed to choose an interesting topic of their preference. They had to prepare a presentation about it. Here you can see some pictures of the presentations.

Hikes
May is a good month for hiking. So we explored our immediate surroundings. Our destinations were the natural monument “Grotte Kulmriegelhöhle” and Grimmenstein Castle.

Bicycle excursion
On a sporty Monday afternoon, we took our bikes to Scheiblingkirchen. There we tasted the different types of ice cream from the Koll bakery. Afterward, we headed back to school via a nearby playground (which we also visited).

German lessons
The topic of process description was put into practice in German lessons. The secondary school pupils prepared a banana milk together.

Trip to Vienna
On May 6, we were in Vienna, the capital of Austria. We visited St. Stephen’s Cathedral, a guided tour of St. Peter’s Church (including a private demonstration of the church organ), a tour of Radio Maria (we were even live on air), and later a visit to Schönbrunn Zoo.

We are delighted to celebrate the new Stella Education Campus opening with you on Thursday, October 24, 2024 !

Stella Vienna Kindergarten

The month of May is dedicated to all mothers. Not only do we celebrate all our mothers, but the Mother of God also has a special place in May. Two cherished traditions returned to Kindergarten this year.
On the Tuesday after Mother’s Day , all the moms were invited to a Mother’s Day breakfast by the children. The children baked diligently the day before.
Equipped with coffee and muffins, the moms were allowed to spend an hour with the children in the group, exploring everything and playing together. A great pleasure – both for the children and for the mothers!
On a Friday in May, we celebrate a short May devotion together with the children. Dr. Spalek from St. Peter’s Church will be visiting us. The children can bring flowers and place them on our small May altar in honor of the Mother of God.

Stella Vienna afternoon care

Wednesdays are excursion days at the after-school care center. The children have no homework on this day and can set off straight after lunch or with packed lunches.
In May, there were excursions to the motor skills park and the flower gardens in Hirschstetten. The joy of being able to really let off steam and discover new things is great!

4A – Project days
In May, the 4th grade went to Lower Austria for project days. The weather was perfect. We enjoyed nature, the animals, the big playground, the football pitch, and most of all, getting to know each other. We look back on these wonderful days with gratitude.

5A – Pilgrimage to Heiligenkreuz
The 5th grade used the Marian month of May for a pilgrimage with a hike to Heiligenkreuz. After a pleasant journey, we arrived in Heiligenkreuz, where we went straight to the Lourdes Grotto. A May devotion took place there, which included traditional Marian hymns, the Lauretanian Litany and a little rosary in Latin (already because of Pentecost: Iesus, qui misit Spiritum Sanctum).
After the service, we began our hike to Mayerling. This hike through the picturesque landscape was not only a physical activity, but also an opportunity for many conversations. Once we arrived in Mayerling, we visited the Carmelite monastery and gained an insight into the eventful history of the town.
After the tour, we made our way back to Heiligenkreuz. The end of our excursion took place there: lunch together in the monastery restaurant. The highlight of the meal was undoubtedly the delicious cream slice, which we all enjoyed and which rounded off the trip in culinary terms.

Experiment in physics lessons-Aerodynamics
The bigger topic was aerodynamics. The pupils had to use their knowledge to safely transport a raw egg from a great height onto the hard concrete floor.

1AB drilling machine driver’s license
As part of their lessons in technology and design, the 1st graders completed the drill driver’s license. After successfully completing the theoretical and practical exams, there was great joy at receiving the certificates.

1A-Radio-Maria
The 1A was delighted to be invited by Radio Maria to their radio studio. In line with the content from Digital Basic Education, the great team showed us around the premises and studios and the students experienced for themselves what it takes to go onair.

2A service learning for the primary school class
We helped a first grade class and their teacher with this project. We supported the children with math exercises and much more. This project took place twice. It was a wonderful time with the primary school children. Your journalists: Theo and Florian

2A -Visit from Mr. Farthofer and Mr. Rücker from Sao bien
“Once upon a time there was an old man. He walked along a beach that seemed endless. There were starfish washed up all over the beach that would soon die. Then the man saw a boy picking them up and throwing them into the sea. Astonished, the man asked: “Boy, why are you doing that? Look: there are so many starfish washed up here and you are throwing them into the water one by one. Why are you doing that? You’ll never manage to throw them all in.” The boy replied: “Look, soon the tide will go out and they will all die. I’ll take them and throw them into the sea. So he took a starfish and threw it far away into the water.” “For this one,” he said, “I have done something good.”

The Sao Bien project makes life easier for individual poor villages in the mountains of Vietnam, just as the young boy made life easier for starfish on the beach by building local schools. Your journalist: Johanna

3A-Experiments-ink
The 3A pupils were amazed and motivated when experimenting with ink, brushes, and water and the exciting results in art and design.
